Let's Talk About Tallow

🐄 What Is Tallow and Why Your Skin Will Love It

If you’re new here, welcome! Let’s talk about the ingredient that started it all: tallow.
Yep - beef fat! Sounds a little strange at first, but trust me, it’s magic for your skin. The kind of magic that doesn’t come from fancy labs, but straight from nature - and your skin knows the difference.

Tallow is a nutrient-rich fat derived from the suet of cows - specifically the dense, hard fat found around the kidney area. When this fat is gently rendered (slowly melted and purified), it turns into a smooth, shelf-stable oil known as tallow.

But not all tallow is created equal. At MooGlow, I use grass-fed, locally sourced NZ beef suet, which contains significantly more skin-supporting nutrients than conventional grain-fed sources.

Why Tallow Works

Tallow is full of:

  • Fatty acids that closely mimic your skin’s natural oils

  • Vitamins A, D, E, and K

  • Anti-inflammatory and healing properties

It deeply nourishes, helps restore your skin barrier, and supports overall skin health.

Who Is It For?

Tallow is an excellent choice for people with:

  • Eczema

  • Psoriasis

  • Rosacea

  • Red, reactive, or compromised skin

  • Acne/Post-acne healing

  • Dry or dehydrated skin (you don’t need to have skin issues to benefit!)

Its natural profile supports healing without irritation, making it suitable for even the most sensitive skin types.

Low-Waste, Sustainable, and Ethical

Using tallow in skincare supports regenerative, sustainable practices by utilising a part of the animal that’s often discarded.

By choosing grass-fed suet from local NZ farms:

  • You’re helping reduce waste from the meat industry

  • Supporting ethical, local agriculture

  • Choosing a skincare ingredient that requires minimal processing, unlike seed oils or synthetic fillers

It’s a way to honour the whole animal, support small producers, and reduce the environmental footprint of your beauty routine.

Want to Try It?

You only need a tiny bit. Use it on your face, body, lips—wherever your skin needs love.
